BIO

Dr Simon Thornton is a Senior Lecturer working at RMIT since 2010, initially in the School of Marketing then as a Work Integrated Learning Specialist in the central College of Business & Law team.  A passionate educator, Simon devised the new Bachelor of Business (Professional Practice), first creating program architecture before adding new core preperation courses of Impact Academy, Developing Professionally and the Professional Apprentice courses.

As a member of the College’s Learning, Teaching & Quality Portfolio Simon has created and coordinates the current suite of Business Internship courses now available to all students at both UGRD and PGRD level on shore and in Singapore. This has increased the number of students undertaking direct industry engagement learning from just 75 in 2018 to over 300 each year (2019-2023) which includes Melbourne’s lockdown periods when one third of Internship placements were cancelled.

Simon is a Victorian board member of the Australian Collaboration Education Network (ACEN) and member of The National Association of Field Experience Administrators Inc. (NAFEA).
