Dr Sara Fazeli is a Research Fellow in the School of Engineering at RMIT University, focusing on hazards evacuation and disaster resilience. Her research investigates human behaviour and decision-making in emergencies, with a particular interest in understanding how people respond to natural hazards such as bushfires.

Sara completed her PhD at the Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI), UNSW Sydney, in partnership with Natural Hazards Research Australia. Her doctoral research focused on developing self-assessment tools to measure individual preparedness for floods and bushfires, and also examined driving behaviour and evacuation decision-making during these emergencies. Her research employs quantitative and mixed-methods approaches to examine how individuals prepare for and respond to natural hazards. Building on her background in urban and transport planning, her research takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding human behaviour and decision-making in emergencies, with the aim of informing effective emergency management strategies.
