Dr Nalin Arachchilage is an Associate Professor in Cyber Security and a Regenerative Futures Fellow in the School of Computing Technologies at RMIT University, Australia. He also serves as the Group Leader of the Human-Centred Cyber Security (HCCS) Research Group within the RMIT Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation (CCSRI).His research pioneers human-centred cybersecurity and privacy, advancing a people-first vision of digital trust. Operating at the intersection of cybersecurity, human–computer interaction (HCI), artificial intelligence (AI)—including Agentic AI Security—and software engineering, his work focuses on designing secure, ethical, quantum‑safe, and cyber‑resilient systems (Security by Design), for next-generation critical infrastructure, including space and satellite ecosystems.A recognised leader in quantum-safe cyber resilience, he works closely with industry and defence sectors, developing socio-technical frameworks, practical PQC tooling, and technology policies to support real-world critical infrastructure in navigating post-quantum cryptography implementation and migration.In recognition of his research impact and outreach, Nalin received RMIT’s Top Performer – Media Stars Award (2025). He currently leads the redevelopment of RMIT’s Master of Cyber Security program, integrating regenerative futures principles to create a cutting-edge, industry-informed, and culturally inclusive curriculum that fosters sustainable, ethical, and resilient cyber capabilities for the evolving digital landscape.
Nalin’s career reflects a global journey of academic leadership and innovation across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka. He has held senior research and teaching roles that bridge academia, industry, and government, shaping the next generation of cybersecurity education and practice.
At the University of Auckland, he served as Senior Lecturer and Assistant Head of School (Research), where he led the Master of Professional Studies in Digital Security program and strengthened research capacity in emerging areas of cyber resilience. He was previously a Senior Research Fellow at La Trobe University, contributing to the Optus–La Trobe Cyber Security Research Hub, advancing applied cybersecurity research and industry collaboration.
Nalin worked as a Lecturer in Cyber Security and previously led the Usable Security Engineering Group at UNSW within the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), where he pioneered Australia’s first human‑centred cybersecurity courses for defence personnel.
His leadership brought together behavioural science and secure systems engineering to strengthen cyber resilience within military and national‑security contexts. His international research career began at the University of Oxford, where he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant specialising in systems security engineering and trust frameworks. He then continued to the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where he advanced research into technical security solutions that meaningfully integrate human behaviour, decision‑making, and risk perception into digital security and privacy design.
He has also held an Honorary Associate Professorship in Cyber Security at the University of Warwick (UK) and currently serves as a Technical Advisor to DEFSAFE Cyber Security Inc. (New Zealand), providing strategic direction on cyber risk, training, and product innovation.Together, these experiences position Nalin as a thought leader at the intersection of research, education, and policy, dedicated to strengthening cyber resilience across communities, industry, and national security sectors.

Nalin’s interdisciplinary research has led to high-impact outcomes — including improving the OWASP Enterprise Security API (ESAPI 2.2.1.0), enabling developers worldwide to build more secure applications. He has presented his research at Facebook Headquarters (Menlo Park, USA), collaborated with HP Labs (Bristol, UK), and his work has featured widely across national and international media (ABC TV, ABC News Radio, Sky News Australia, TVNZ 1 News, Guardian Labs, and 10 News TV Australia).
Leadership & Engagement:
A recognised thought leader in human-centred cybersecurity, Nalin has served on program committees for the world’s premier security and privacy venues, including:
ACM CCS (2022–2024), ACM AsiaCCS (2023–2024), USEC (2025-2026), USENIX SOUPS (2018–2026), ACM CSCW(Associate Chair 2019–2024), ACM FAccT 2022, and EASE 2019.
He has also contributed as Karat Award Chair (SOUPS 2021), SOUPS Mentor (2020), and ACM CSCW Awards Committee Member (2023) — reflecting his sustained global leadership in usable security and privacy research.Academic Pathway & Mentorship:
Nalin holds a PhD in Cyber Security from Brunel University London, where he developed a game-based learning framework to teach users how to defend against phishing attacks. He also earned an MSc in Information Management and Security (University of Bedfordshire, UK) and a BSc (Hons) in Management Information Systems from University College Dublin, Ireland.
He is a Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) and has extensive international teaching experience across leading universities in the UK, Canada, and Australia.

Dr Arathi Arakala completed her PhD in Mathematics from RMIT University, Australia in 2008. She then worked as a research fellow on cybersecurity projects where she developed algorithms to protect biometric data ( like fingerprints and face images) at rest and during computations.
Since 2019 she has been working full time at RMIT as a Lecturer of Mathematics. She is the program manager of the School of Science Master of Cybersecurity program MC159P18 at RMIT and teaches Masters level courses on authentication and data protection. Her research interests are in applying mathematical algorithms to solve real word problems like improving access control using biometric data, modelling online user behaviour to mitigate bullying or echo chamber formation and developing post-quantum algorithms to protect data.
She has appeared on several news channels including ABC and Fox News to discuss cybersecurity issues and has delivered cybersecurity training to business and government entities in south-east asia.
She has won several teaching and outreach awards for her contribution to teaching cybersecurity and community engagement to foster online safety.

Dr Adam Bartley is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at RMIT University’s Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation, specialising in international relations, security studies, and the geopolitical implications of emerging technologies. His research focuses on great power competition, particularly US–China rivalry, artificial intelligence governance, and minilateral security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.
Dr Bartley has published widely across academic and policy-oriented outlets. His work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes addressing China’s political system, AI strategy, and global security dynamics, as well as policy reports and commissioned research supported by institutions such as the Australian Department of Defence and Army Research Centre. His scholarly contributions include articles on Chinese authoritarian governance, US–China strategic competition, and technology-driven security challenges, alongside book chapters examining artificial intelligence, defence innovation, and regional strategic alignment. Dr Bartley is also the author or Perceptions of China and White House Decision-Making, 1941–1963: Spears of Promise, Shields of Truth (Routledge, 2020), which examines the role of threat perception in shaping early US China policy, and co-author of US Foreign Policy and China: Security Challenges in the Bush, Obama, and Trump Administrations (Edinburgh University Press, 2021), which analyses the evolution of US strategic approaches to China in the post-Cold War era.
In addition to academic publishing, Dr Bartley is an active contributor to policy and public-facing discourse. He has written extensively for Australian Institute of International Affairs’s Australian Outlook as weekly columnist for The Week in Australian Foreign Affairs, and has contributed to broader debates on international affairs, emerging technologies, and Indo-Pacific security across platforms such as ASPI Strategist, Lowy Interpreter, the Diplomat, South China Morning Post, the Conversation, and the Policy Forum.
Dr Bartley is a Fulbright Scholar and has held a residency at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, where he further developed his research on global security and technological competition. He has also held fellowships at the Sigur Center for Asian Affairs and Pacific Forum, Hawaii. Dr Bartley is actively engaged in collaborative research initiatives, including work on trilateral cooperation between the United States, Australia, and Japan in the field of artificial intelligence and security policy. Across his academic and policy work, Dr Bartley’s research contributes to understanding how emerging technologies are reshaping strategic competition and international order, with a particular emphasis on the Indo-Pacific and the evolving role of middle powers in an era of systemic rivalry.

Dr. Bruno is an Information Systems academic at RMIT, dedicated to the practical application of technology. He passionately teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in areas like database management, industry capstone projects, and user experience. My research focuses on Autonomous Systems and Robots, Autonomous Decision Making and Knowledge Sharing, Cyber Security, Security Data Orchestration and Analysis, Architecture of software systems for Distributed and Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Confidentiality-Integrity-Availability (CIA) of the systems, evolution of traditional software system into software as a service (SaaS) model and how cloud computing paradigm can help to address the challenges related to Global Software Development (GSD).
I have worked in various roles in academia and industry. I have previously been associated with The University of Adelaide, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and IT University of Copenhagen (ITU Denmark). I have also been associated with different software development organisations and have domain expertise in financial applications; targeting solutions for unemployment funds, prepaid debit cards and the banking sector.
I have received a PhD degree in Computer Science from IT University of Copenhagen, Denmark. I also hold an MS degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering and a BS degree in Computer Science.

I am a Senior Lecturer at The Business School, RMIT University (Saigon South Campus, Vietnam), where I teach and conduct research in the field of Management Information Systems (MIS).
In addition to my teaching and research roles, I serve as the Interim Associate Head of Department (Research) and HDR Coordinator & Delegated Authority within the school, providing leadership to enhance research excellence, foster a collaborative and innovative research culture, and support academic staff and PhD candidates in advancing their research agendas. My role involves facilitating research initiatives, mentoring early-career researchers, and driving the department’s strategic research priorities, including securing external research funding and strengthening industry engagement.
Before transitioning to TBS, I was teaching and conducting research in the School of Science, Engineering & Technology, where I was the Senior Program Manager managing their two flagship programs, Bachelor of IT and Bachelor of Software Engineering.
I am privileged to collaborate with brilliant PhD candidates on various MIS and management research topics. Together with my research partners, I have written/co-authored over 60 articles for internationally recognized research journals and conferences (available on my Google Scholar profile). We have also acquired successfully a total research funding amount of approximately US$ 341,500 (up to 2023).
In 2024, I was honored to be appointed Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at the School of Business Administration, Gonzaga University, USA.

Dr. Hai Dong is the Leader of the Systems and Security Group and Founding Director of the CloudTech-RMIT Green Cryptocurrency Joint Research Laboratory (GreenCryptoLab) at the RMIT School of Computing Technologies. He also chairs the Deep Edge Intelligence Task Force in the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.
He has published a monograph and 150+ (100+ CORE-A*/A or JCR/SJR-Q1) research articles in international journals and conferences, such as AAAI, ASE, ICML, ICLR, KDD, TIFS, TMC, TOSEM, TSC, and TSE. He received the Best Research Paper Award in ICSOC 2016 and IEEE ICBC 2025 and the 2023 RMIT Award for Research Engagement and Impact - Industry Engagement in Graduate Research. He has obtained 5 million+ in research funding as a chief investigator from government sources (ARC, CRC, QNRF) and industry. Prof Gondal is passionate about translation research in Cybersecurity, Malware analysis, threat intelligence, Blockchain, remote condition monitoring, mobile and sensor networks areas.
Professor Iqbal Gondal is Associate Dean Cyber Security and Software Systems in RMIT University. He has worked in industry and academia for 25 years in Singapore and Australia. He led Internet Commerce Security Lab (ICSL), Federation University as a Director for last seven years to conduct translational research in Cybersecurity. He was responsible for establishing collaborative partnerships between Federation University and Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) & Australian Federal Police (AFP). He was also as an Associate Dean Engagement in STEM School in Federation University, where he successfully developed partnerships with domestic and international institutions for teaching and research. He has worked as a member of University Governing Council & member of engineering advisory committee for Federation University, Non-Exec Director of Oceania Cyber Security Centre, and University engagement for Defence Science Institute. In the past, he was the Director of ICT strategy for the faculty of IT in Monash. He has received significant funding to support research in Intelligent Malware analysis, threat intelligence, fraud detection, cyber-attack triage, malware webinject detection, phishing attack identification, remote condition monitoring and blockchain.
He is Fellow of Institute of Engineers Australia, member of IEEE (USA)/communication society and Graduate member of Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). He has completed Oxford Executive Leadership program. He worked in a capacity of a research fellow and a senior software systems engineer for seven years in Singapore and Australia with Delphi (GM), Singapore Manufacturing Technology (SimTech) centre and other industries working on design and development, project management, system design and integration, SCADA, intelligent techniques, adaptive systems and wireless switches for financial services. He has published over 209-refereed conference and journal papers and he is a an experienced HDR supervisor.

Nicola Henry is Professor of Global and Language Studies at RMIT University. She is a socio-legal scholar with nearly 30 years research experience in the gender-based violence field. Her research, focusing on the prevalence, nature and impacts of online and offline sexual abuse, has had a significant impact on law, policy and educational reform in Australia and internationally. Nicola is a member of the Australian Office of the eSafety Commissioner’s Expert Advisory Group. She regularly provides advice to technology companies to help shape their policies and practices around sexual violence and harmful online content. She was Expert Advisor on the development of the eSafety Office’s image-based abuse portal as well as the award-winning eSafety Women: Online Training for Frontline Workers.
Nicola's ARC Future Fellowship project (2021-25) examined the role of digital tools, services and platforms for detecting, preventing and responding to image-based sexual abuse. She is leading two Google-funded projects, including one involving a survey on image-based sexual abuse in ten different countries, and the other investigating the prevalence, nature and harms of AI-generated image-based sexual abuse (also known as “deepfake pornography”). She was also a Chief Investigator on several projects on alternative reporting options for sexual assault survivors (led by Prof. Georgina Heydon, RMIT), and is working in collaboration with La Trobe University on a sexual violence prevention project (led by Prof. Leesa Hooker, LTU).

Dr. Emmy Hoang is a Senior Lecturer in the Business School (TBS) at RMIT Vietnam. She is also the Senior Program Manager for the Bachelor of Digital Marketing.
In 2017, Dr. Hoang received recognition as a Young Scholar from the Pacific Telecommunications Council, a program designed to identify and support emerging scholars in the field of information and communication technologies. From 2015 to 2016, she was a visiting Ph.D. researcher at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU).
Her research combines computational social sciences and computer science to investigate consumer behavior, digital business transformation, fintech innovations, social networks, and methodological advancements in causal inference using large-scale digital trace data. Her research has been published in leading international journals, including the Journal of Management Information Systems (FT50 and ABDC A*), Computers in Human Behavior, Behaviour & Information Technology, Journal of Services Marketing, and the Australasian Journal of Information Systems. She collaborates with leading partners in Asia, America, and Europe under non-disclosure agreements. Professor Reza Hoseinnezhad is a leading researcher, academic leader and educator in autonomous systems, statistical signal processing, information fusion, machine vision, multi-object tracking and intelligent transportation systems. He has been based at RMIT University since 2010 and is Professor of Autonomous Systems in the School of Engineering.
Before joining RMIT, Professor Hoseinnezhad held academic and research positions at the University of Tehran, Swinburne University of Technology and the University of Melbourne. He holds a PhD in Robotics from the University of Tehran, where his thesis on intelligent path planning of mobile robots using sensor data fusion received the Distinguished Thesis Award.
The domains in which Professor Hoseinnezhad has managed and contributed research include statistical machine vision, information fusion, multi-object systems, multi-target tracking, computer vision, autonomous vehicles, robotics, sensor fusion, robust estimation, control systems, intelligent transportation systems, autonomous navigation, machine learning, safety-critical systems and advanced manufacturing. As a result, he has contributed to a substantial portfolio of nationally competitive, government-funded, industry-facing and internationally collaborative research, creating impact through research translation, industry partnerships, patents, academic publications, invited keynote addresses, HDR supervision and academic leadership.
Professor Hoseinnezhad’s research is centred on the development of mathematical, statistical and computational methods that enable intelligent systems to perceive, estimate, track, decide and act in uncertain, cluttered and dynamic environments. His work has made significant contributions to random finite set theory, labelled multi-Bernoulli filtering, multi-target tracking, track-before-detect methods, distributed multi-sensor fusion, sensor management, robust visual estimation, stochastic geometry and statistical computer vision. These methods underpin applications in autonomous vehicles, connected driving, robotic swarms, radar systems, defence platforms, surveillance, smart manufacturing, infrastructure inspection, medical imaging, microscopy, underwater vehicles and industrial automation.
Professor Hoseinnezhad’s projects have required the deployment of advanced signal processing, machine vision, sensor fusion, artificial intelligence, control theory and autonomous systems methods for a wide range of government and industry partners. His funded research has involved organisations including the Australian Research Council, iMOVE CRC, CSIRO Data61, Food Agility CRC, Defence Science and Technology Group, Defence Science Institute, Rheinmetall Defence Australia, Rail Manufacturing CRC, Australian Meat Processor Corporation, Automotive Engineering Graduate Program partners, APV Engineering & Testing Services, APV Safety Products and Thrust Maritime.
Relevant government and industry projects have also ensued with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts; the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute; the Victorian Government; the Commonwealth Government; and international funding agencies including the Natural Science Foundation of China. These projects span road condition monitoring, undersea navigation, intelligent automation, mixed reality for aircraft maintenance, connected vehicle networks, advanced photonic navigation, fleet-based sensing, robotic inspection, meat processing analytics, road safety, vehicle safety, autonomous vehicle deployment and automated manufacturing inspection.
Professor Hoseinnezhad works with collaborators across Australia, Asia, Europe, the United Kingdom, North America and South America, thereby fostering a global outlook and reach through his research. He has delivered keynote, plenary and invited talks in Australia, Vietnam, the Czech Republic, Iran, Chile, China, the United Kingdom and the United States. He has also contributed expert commentary on autonomous driving and participated in strategic university discussion on emerging issues such as lethal autonomous weapons.
Professor Hoseinnezhad has published extensively across signal processing, computer vision, robotics, autonomous vehicles, intelligent transportation systems, control, vehicular technology, industrial electronics, aerospace systems and artificial intelligence. His publications include the 2024 research book The Labeled Multi-Bernoulli Filter: A Comprehensive Guide for Practitioners, book chapters, journal articles and conference papers in leading venues such as IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision and Image Understanding, Information Fusion, Aerospace Science and Technology, ISA Transactions and Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.
On research leadership, Professor Hoseinnezhad has held major academic leadership roles within RMIT’s School of Engineering. From 2019 to 2023 he served as Associate Dean, Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, leading a portfolio with a headcount of 72 and monitoring a budget of $65 million. During this period, the portfolio’s research income KPI increased five-fold and its industry engagement KPI increased seven-fold. He has also served as Discipline Leader for Manufacturing and Mechatronics and as Research Development Lead for the School of Engineering, facilitating industry engagement across a portfolio of more than 200 staff.
Professor Hoseinnezhad’s research has also resulted in intellectual property outcomes. His patents include signal processing methods and apparatus for missing data handling by multi-step-ahead predictive filtering; signal processing and position-determining apparatus and methods; and pulse and gap control for electrical discharge machining equipment. This work reflects the applied engineering orientation of his research, connecting theoretical advances in estimation, sensing and control with practical technologies in automotive systems, manufacturing and safety-critical engineering.
Professor Hoseinnezhad has made significant contributions to engineering education. His teaching areas include mechatronics, autonomous systems, signals and systems, image processing, probability and statistics, control systems, sensor fusion and machine vision. At RMIT he developed and coordinated project-based learning courses including Automated System Design, Autonomous Systems and Mechatronics Principles. He has also taught Automatic Control Systems and Design for Assembly and Automation, and has held teaching roles at the University of Melbourne, Swinburne University of Technology and the University of Tehran.
Professor Hoseinnezhad mentors researchers from early-stage students through to PhD candidates and postdoctoral collaborators. His PhD supervision record includes 16 completions and 6 current candidates. His supervision spans autonomous systems, multi-object tracking, computer vision, sensor fusion, robotics, connected vehicles, machine learning, smart manufacturing, undersea systems, intelligent transportation and safety-critical engineering systems.
Professor Hoseinnezhad has contributed to scholarly and professional service through national research assessment, editorial leadership and university governance. He has served as an assessor for Australian Research Council Discovery, Linkage and Centre of Excellence programs, as Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and as Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems. He has also served as an elected member of the RMIT Academic Board and RMIT College Board, and as an invited member of an Engineers Australia accreditation panel.
Professor Hoseinnezhad has received numerous awards and recognitions for research, teaching, leadership and scholarly contribution. In 2026, he was recognised as a National Field Leader in Signal Processing in The Australian Research Magazine’s Top 250 Australian Researchers. He has also received best paper awards at international conferences, the RMIT School of Engineering Research Excellence Award, the RMIT Learning and Teaching Innovation Award, the RMIT Outstanding Contribution Award, Swinburne University of Technology’s Vice Chancellor Research Award, the University of Tehran Distinguished Thesis Award and a Japanese Government Monbusho Scholarship.
Through his research, leadership, teaching and professional service, Professor Hoseinnezhad advances autonomous systems that are mathematically rigorous, computationally robust and relevant to real-world societal and industrial challenges. His work connects statistical signal processing, machine vision, sensor fusion, robotics, artificial intelligence and engineering practice to support safer transport systems, more capable autonomous platforms, smarter manufacturing processes, more reliable sensing networks and more intelligent decision-making systems.

Dr Shahriar Kaisar is an accomplished researcher in data analytics, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. His research expertise includes developing advanced cyberthreat detection and mitigation strategies, utilizing state-of-the-art artificial intelligence tools to tackle complex business and health informatics challenges, and devising innovative solutions to facilitate seamless content sharing using advanced networking capabilities. To drive the adoption of artificial intelligence, his most recent study focused on generative and explainable AI in business decision making. Dr Kaisar is vastly experienced in human-centric data collection research involving large groups of people. His excellent work has featured in various prestigious international peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Dr. Kaisar earned his PhD from Monash University, Australia, and a research-based master's degree from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He has held various academic positions in Australia, Canada, and Bangladesh.

Ibrahim Khalil is a Professor at the School of Computing Technologies at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Bern, Switzerland, in 2003, marking the beginning of a career that would span continents and sectors. Before his tenure at RMIT University, Khalil amassed significant experience in the tech hubs of Silicon Valley, where he worked as a software engineer focused on secure network protocols and smart network provisioning. His academic journey also includes valuable stints at EPFL the University of Bern in Switzerland, and Osaka University in Japan. A prolific contributor to the fields of Blockchain and Privacy, Khalil has led several high-profile ARC discovery and linkage grants in Australia between 2018 and 2024, alongside securing international European grants, industry grants, and a QNRF grant from Qatar. His research portfolio is diverse, encompassing Privacy, Blockchain, secure AI data analytics, distributed systems, e-health, wireless and body sensor networks, biomedical signal processing, and Quantum Computing, reflecting a broad and impactful engagement with the frontiers of computing and technology.
